Semis are the wire's loudest IN theme for a third week (SMH RS20 rank 1, up from 2; Fast Money led with semis +6% on the week; Seymour: 'equity growth is all about the dynamic that is semiconductors'); SMH is the one IN-theme instrument that has already resolved its ceiling (600.37) and then pulled back on shrinking volume into a 589–602 demand zone before a higher high — buy the zone, never the chase.

Entry
limit · resting limit 597.50 inside the 589–602 demand zone (9/22–9/24 consolidation; floor = 9/24 low 588.92, top = 9/24 high 602.03), placed after the Mon 9/28 verdict, good through Thu 10/1 close; no chase above 605; cancel unfilled if SMH closes < 592 first
Event gate
Micron FQ4 earnings (the semis theme's marquee event; MU is a top SMH holding; MU implied move 13.2%) — not SMH's own earnings and not FOMC (next FOMC Oct 27–28); Employment Situation Fri 10/2 08:30 ET

Bear read
PATTERN: a breakout on shrinking volume (vol5/50 0.75, ETF volume 5–7M vs the 6M average and the 40M July capitulation bar) that stalls under the June supply at 619–650 — 'no demand' by the reading rules — and reverses on Micron's 9/30 print into the 9/20 FX Evolution 'island reversal' line; the 9/21 gap has already been filled once (9/24 at 588.92), so the island is not the picture, but a second failure there would be. (a) HIGHS SINCE THE LAST PEAK: the peak IS Friday 609.66 — session highs 603.0 (9/21) → 607.5 (9/22) → 601.5 (9/23) → 600.5 (9/24) → 609.66 (9/25): one two-day step-down pair, then a higher high — NOT a coil (a coil needs three or more step-downs onto a flat base; here the base rose 588.9 → 595 → 602 and Friday broke the step-downs). (b) RATIO SLOPE, 20 SESSIONS: rising, 0.70 → 0.79, new two-month high — the 'pullback in uptrend' disqualifier does not fire. (c) CEILING TESTS, LAST 10 SESSIONS (hourly): 602–603 tested three times (9/22, 9/23, 9/24) and then cleared and held Friday; the next ceiling (619–642) has zero tests. RULING: BULL READ SURVIVES because the 600.37 pivot that capped last week's coil broke on 9/21, the 9/22–9/24 pullback held above the 588.92 floor on shrinking (no-supply) volume before Friday's higher high, the ratio is at a two-month high, and SOXX confirmed by closing over its 566.02 lower high (the summer downtrend broken on a valid high). What the bear read wins: the entry is a limit inside the zone (never a chase above 605), the good-through closes before the jobs print, MU's 9/30 print gets the half-size/wider-stop rule for fills on 9/29–9/30, size is 10.8% NAV not the 15% cap because of the volume point, and a close under 592 ends it.

SMH_D (bar 9/25): labeled swing highs 600.37 / 580.57 / 573.21, swing lows 540.75 / 540.07 / 537.73. 1 Structure: rising — the step-down highs of last week's coil (600.37 → 580.57 → 573.21) were broken 9/21 on a gap to 588 and a 9/22 close over 600.37; session highs since 603.0 → 607.5 → 601.5 → 600.5 → 609.66 (higher high Friday); above all three SMAs, SMA20 568.83 rising, SMA50 565.89 flat, SMA200 493. 2 Levels: entry inside the 589–602 consolidation (9/22–9/24) that preceded Friday's impulse; stop under its 588.92 floor; targets are the late-June supply bodies (619–642) and the June 18–24 cluster (645–650) under the 671.87 ATH — no SMA levels. 3 Volume since the 9/21 catalyst: the gap day ~10M (above the 6M average), then 5–7M on the 9/23–9/24 down days (no supply) and ~5M Friday — up-day bars larger than down-day bars; vol5/50 0.75 is the bear read's point. 4 Gaps: the 9/21 gap (588–592 area) filled intraday 9/24 at 588.92; the June 3.6% gap at 655–670 reads open 0.0% (filled); the April 3.7% gap 400–415 is far below. 5 Rejections (SMH_60, 10 sessions): 602–603 tapped 9/22 (607.5 spike faded), 9/23 (601.5), 9/24 (600.5) = three taps, then cleared Friday and held (PDH 602.03 became Friday's floor, range 602.2–609.7, close above VWAP 606.4); the next ceiling 619–642 has zero tests. 6 RS: ratio panel 0.70 → 0.79 over 20 sessions, a two-month high; Friday SMH +1.18% vs SPY +0.54% on an index up day. 7 Label: ETF row has no bucket; picture = breakout/continuation with a completed first pullback — matches B; not extended (6.6% over the 20d, RSI 62.7). 8 Bear read: see bear_case. SMH_60: 540 → 609 staircase 9/14–9/25, every gap held, 9/24 dip to 590 bought back inside two hours, Friday's first bar cleared 602.03 on 1.2M and the afternoon held 605–609 on 0.3–0.6M bars. Entry
597.50
limit 597.50 GTC inside the 589–602 demand zone (the 9/22–9/24 consolidation before Friday's impulse: 9/23 lows ~595, 9/24 low 588.92 = zone floor, 9/24 high 602.03 = zone top, which became Friday's floor). Fills only on a −1.5% pullback; no chase above 605. Place only after the Mon 9/28 5:45 AM PT verdict; good through Thu 10/1 close — unfilled → cancel at the 10/1 close (no fresh fill into the Fri 10/2 jobs print).
Invalidation
592.00
daily close < 592.00 = a close back inside the body of the 589–602 zone below the 9/23 lows: the post-breakout consolidation failed → out next open.
Hard stop
586.50
586.50 GTC after the fill — under the 9/24 low 588.92 (the demand-zone floor) by 0.15 ATR; any print below it means the zone gave way. 0.68 ATR (16.07) below entry — not widened: dealers are long gamma (+2.3B). EVENT RULE: a fill on Tue 9/29 or Wed 9/30 is under two sessions old at Micron's 9/30 AMC print → size 25 sh and hard stop widened 0.5 ATR to 578.50.
T1
626.00
626.00 — the bottom of the late-June supply (6/25–6/30 candle bodies ~619–642, read off the daily), the first ceiling above Friday's 609.66; +4.8% from entry, inside the 7.2% implied move to 10/23. +5% = 627.38 → stop to breakeven.
T2
648.00
648.00 — the June 18–24 body cluster (~645–650) under the 671.87 52-week high; +8.5%, just outside the 28-DTE implied move (option market does not price it by 10/23 — it is the scale-out target, not the base case). +15% = 687.13 (above the ATH) → scale out by the charter, effectively T2.

Instrument
SMH common (ETF), Roth — level 3 on the ladder on purpose: AMD (the resolved leader) is 19% over its 20d, MU cannot be held into its 9/30 print, NVDA is still inside a triangle; the ETF is the only IN-theme chart with a clean demand zone. IV/RV 0.96 — chain is fair, stock/ETF is cleanest for a 2–3 week hold; no leverage (SOXL) for a hold > 5 days.
Entry B
breakout (half size, 25 sh, FLAG quoted): daily close > 609.67 (Friday's high / 20d high) on volume > 6.0M (20d avg) → BUY STOP-LIMIT the next morning (stop = qualifying close × 1.002, limit × 1.007); invalidation close < 600.37, hard 594.00; from ~612 the R:R is 0.8:1 to T1 (FLAGGED) and 2.0:1 to T2 — carried only so a gap-away week has an instrument (the 9/25 AMD lesson), not as the base case.
R:R
vs hard stop 586.50: 2.6:1 to T1 / 4.6:1 to T2 · vs invalidation 592: 5.2:1 / 9.2:1 · at the event-widened 578.50 stop (fills 9/29–9/30, 25 sh): 1.5:1 to T1 (FLAGGED) / 2.7:1 to T2
Falsifier
daily close < 592; SOXX closes back under 566.02 (the lower high it broke 9/22) — the sector breakout fails first; MU's 9/30 print gaps semis through 588.92 (MU implied 13.2%); a 10-yr break above the 5.23% weekly high toward Emons' 6% that finally hits the AI trade; the wire's 'island reversal' line (9/20) printing on SMH.

Sun 9/27 16:08 ET · CONFIRM

Independent bear read of SMH_D/60 (server PNG + TradingView daily/1h) matches the card: since Friday's 609.66 peak the session highs step 607.5 -> 601.5 -> 600.5 -> 609.66, only two step-downs before a higher high, not the three-plus onto a flat base that defines a coil; the SMH/SPY ratio sits at a two-month high; the 602-603 ceiling was tapped three times (9/22-9/24) then cleared and held as Friday's floor. BULL READ SURVIVES. The one bear point that still holds is shrinking volume on the breakout leg itself, not just the pullback -- a mild conviction flag, not disqualifying given dealers flipped back to strong long gamma (+2.3B, spot +6.1% over zero gamma). Theme comparison: NVDA remains an unresolved triangle on both the server chart and TradingView (step-down highs, flat ratio) -- no missed entry beyond the card's own 218.50 pullback alternate; MSFT sits within noise of its 517.78 pivot (chart close 516.17 vs a live tape print of 517.91 -- a stale-feed discrepancy worth re-verifying Monday morning, not a reason to switch). SMH remains the cleanest resolved IN-theme chart. Event gate: Micron's Wed 9/30 AMC print is correctly gated -- window closes Thu 10/1 close, before the print settles and before Friday's jobs report, with the card's own half-size/widened-stop rule already covering a 9/29-9/30 fill. R:R 2.6:1 at the hard stop clears the 2:1 floor; no coil, no picture mismatch. Card stands.

SMH (this card): HOLD OFF — event gate; do not place. The entry window closed at Thursday's close (before today's 08:30 jobs print) and the card is still 'pending' with no fill known — unfilled = NO-TRADE WEEK; any 597.50 order still working should be cancelled. Independently: pre-market 631.10 at 08:47 ET = +2.15% vs Thursday's 617.81 close (08:35 gap file: 631.46, +2.21%) — over the 2% gap rule, 5.6% above the 597.50 limit, above 'no chase above 605' and above T1 626. Breakout alt not placeable: Thursday closed 617.81 > 609.67 but volume was ~5.1M (ref dollar volume $3,167M / price; daily bar feed 429) vs the 6.0M test, and today's gap is over 2%. IF the limit filled Monday (low 591.92; no fill confirmed — portfolio book as_of 9/19 shows no SMH): MOVE STOP TO BREAKEVEN (597.50) once the open holds above 627.38 — pre-market is +5.62% from entry, Thursday's close was +3.40%; above 592 / 586.50; T1 626 printing pre-market, T2 648; no structure kill. RS Thursday: SMH +1.45% vs SPY +0.18%. AAPL (Week 2, 60 @ 333.50 Roth) — only if the exit has not been done: EXIT AT THE OPEN stands. Thursday closed 330.32 (low 325.81), a third straight close under the 334.30/334.53 base, lower highs 345.34 -> 342.99 -> 339.50 -> 332.48; above the 328 invalidation and the 319 stop. Pre-market 332.21 (+0.57% vs Thursday's close) = -0.39% from entry, about -$77 on 60 sh; cancel the 319 GTC stop once sold. Warning line: AAPL -0.81% Thursday vs SPY +0.18%. Tape 08:47 ET: payrolls +29K, unemployment 4.2% (CNBC); 'Dow futures leap 400 points as yields back off on weak payrolls data'; 10-yr 5.24% before the print (Yahoo), post-print level not fetched; SPY 770.35 (+0.83%), QQQ 750.45 (+1.13%), SOXX 590.49 (+2.46%), NVDA 235.85 (+2.16%), VIX 15.68; Brent back below $100; GEX STRONG_SHORT_GAMMA -5.7B (10/1), P/C 1.62, spot 0.6% below zero gamma. Tape endpoint change fields still reference Wednesday's closes; gaps here use Thursday's closes from the chart titles and the 08:35 gap file.

Chart ruling
bull read survives on structure, but the card's setup is gone — price is 5% above the 589–602 zone the card buys; agrees with the card's bear_case ruling and the Sunday CONFIRM. SMH_D (bar 10/1): labeled swing highs 600.37/573.21/580.57, lows 540.75/540.07/537.73; session highs 609.66 (9/25) -> ~608 (9/28) -> 613.27 (9/29) -> 611.95 (9/30) -> 620.91 (10/1): a higher high, no three step-downs, not a coil; close 617.81 = 6.5% over the SMA20 580.25; SMH/SPY ratio ~0.72 -> 0.81 over 20 sessions, rising, highest since July. SMH_60: the 610–613 ceiling tested 9/25, 9/29, 9/30 and cleared Thursday midday in one bar (~612 -> 618), then three small bars at 617.5–618 with wicks to 620.91; PDH 611.95 / PDL 606.01. Bear points that stand: breakout-day volume ~5M, half the 9/21 gap day; Thursday's high sits at the bottom of the June 619–650 supply and today's pre-market print is inside it. SPY_D: swing highs 779.37/775.30/775.14, lows 762.04/759.48/749.60; closed 763.99 under the SMA20 765.00, on the SMA50 763.07, after a lower wick to ~758. AAPL_D: labeled highs 344.57/320.28/345.34, lows 300.00/300.57/309.90; close 330.32 under the SMA20 331.62; AAPL_60: gap-down open Thursday, low 325.81, PDH 339.50 / PDL 330.14.

SMH_D (bar 10/2): labeled swing highs 600.37 / 580.57 / 573.21, lows 540.75 / 540.07 / 537.73; the week made higher highs every session after Monday (≈608 → 613.27 → 611.95 → 620.91 → 636.25), no lower high, the 589–602 base tested once Monday (591.92) and held; close 630.60 = 8.0% over SMA20 584.15, ratio ~0.82 at a new high; volume 5–7M all week, Friday's gap bar the largest (~7M) but red-bodied. SMH_60: Monday flush 605 → 592 bought back to 600; 610–613 ceiling tapped 9/29, 9/30, 10/1 then cleared Thursday afternoon (PDH 620.91 / PDL 607.25); Friday gapped to 635.6 and faded under VWAP to 628.55–631 — a 620.91–628.55 gap (1.2%) open below, inside the June 619–650 supply. MSFT chart

Earnings Oct 27 AMC confirmed — outside the window. Bear read: a one-day news spike (Copilot repricing) into the range top that closed under the pivot — the ABNB give-back shape; retail was net selling MSFT (Investopedia); bull read survives only on a close over 517.78.

IN theme, Carter's 'up and out… play for 1,200'; broke 1042.40 but 1108 rejected 9/23 and 9/25 on red 7–8M hourly bars at the June gap edge (1110–1140, 1.4% open); reports Wed 9/30 — no rest into its own earnings; IV/RV 1.22 = the event priced. Post-print condition only.

Same picture as SMH (closed 572.68 over its 566.02 lower high; 9/21 gap 537–545 open; 600–605 then 644.94 above); SMH is the cleaner vehicle (higher option liquidity, tighter zone).
XLK chart

META chart
Parabolic 575 → 778 in three weeks, 13.7% over the 20d, RSI 71, Friday red on 26M; Simpson sold covered calls, Carter expects consolidation — extended by rule.

Carter's final trade, but the chart is post-earnings distribution: highs 268.27 → 262.33 → 255 → 250 → 242 under the 20d into the top of the 11.4% gap — bear read wins.
CRWD chart

PANW chart
Third rejection of the 387–399 supply (8/12, 8/26, 9/24 wick 395 → Friday red 374.74) — fade-the-ceiling shape, not a breakout bet.

INTC / ALAB / QCOM / HPE / SMCI / TMO / MRNA chart

The 200.68 / 206.13 coil broke 9/22 but Friday printed a 212 wick and a red close on the 206.13 pivot with 214.89 above — breakout only > 214.89.
XLV / XBI / MRK / PFE / GILD / REGN chart
Healthcare mixed on the wire ('under a bit of pressure lately'): XLV neutral at the 20d under the 171.5 lower high; XBI lower highs 169.89 → 165 → 162 under both SMAs, sector −4 ranks; MRK range mid 142–157; PFE into the 29.21 double top with IV/RV 1.56 and no event found; GILD 9/23 spike over 152.55 rejected; REGN descending triangle 859 → 800 onto 779.
USO / XLE / CVX / XOM / SU chart

ZS / COIN / COHR / UNG (bucket E) chart
ZS −8% Friday (217 → 193) on the leg's biggest bar — climax; COIN post-gap lower highs 209 → 205 → 201 → 199 onto 195.85; COHR 262–316 range mid under a falling 50d; UNG 9/24 spike rejected at the 200d on 65M.
Bucket A by the numbers, but 26.93 → 26.44 lower highs under the 20d and the desk calls telcos 'the melting ice cube' / DVY at all-time relative lows — OUT.
AAPL chart

Context — IV & market

No breadth cut required (46.8% above the 50d, net new highs +3, VIX/VIX3M 0.83 contango, long gamma) and no flag on the primary, so size sits above half (10.8% NAV) but under the 15% cap because the breakout week's ETF volume ran 0.75x its 50-day average and Micron's 13%-implied print lands inside the hold; IV/RV 0.96 and a 7.2% implied move put T1 inside the market's range and T2 just outside it.

2026-10-19 XLV Sector breakout holding above the prior high, relative strength at a new high 178.95 OPEN — interim. Theme right: XLV +1.45% vs SPY -0.43%. Per the bars, XLV tranche 1 (buy-stop 178.95) filled Tue Oct 20 and closed Friday at 179.28 (+0.2%); the 174.50 limit never filled. XLV is 5.8 points above the 173.50 invalidation close, 7.9 above the 171.40 hard stop, 4.2 under T1 183.50. Grade waits for the exit.
2026-10-12 ABBV B — breakout/continuation (first retest); screen flag: extended (RSI 71.2) 271.50 Theme right, entry missed: XLV +3.45% and ABBV +3.24% vs SPY -1.97% (prior close to Friday close), but the 271.50 limit never filled (week low 273.70 on Tue). Per the bars the flagged 50-sh alternate (stop 281.68 / limit 283.09) likely filled Tue near 283.09 after opening 283.29; worth about +0.8% at Friday's 285.42. Jason's fills UNKNOWN. B
2026-10-05 No trade B — breakout retest (relabeled from B breakout/continuation) NO-TRADE on the primary per the bars: the NVDA 228.00 limit never traded (week low 229.11 Fri; Thu low 229.85); no close under 226.90; T1/T2 not printed (week high 243.37 Tue). NVDA 233.95 -> 229.28 = -2.00% vs SPY +1.16%, SMH -4.32%. The breakout confirmed Mon (close 238.90 on 127.2M) then failed Thu (close 230.48 on 118.7M, back under the 232.3-233.2 ceiling). ALT ENTRY per the bars: Monday's close met the breakout condition (>237.88 on >110M); a Tue stop-limit (stop ~239.38 / limit ~240.57) would have filled (Tue range 238.93-243.37) and Thursday's 229.85 low traded through its 232.20 hard stop = about -$711 on 85 sh, the planned loss. Fills UNKNOWN - book file (as_of 9/19) shows no NVDA. C
2026-09-21 No trade breakout/continuation (extended) — retest entry; no screen bucket (14% above the 20d) NO-TRADE per the bars: the 531 limit never traded (week low 582.27 Mon 9/21 open; Monday gapped +4.0% and closed 615.52 over T1 584.50, Tuesday closed 623.77 over T2 619.70; no close under 517; both targets printed without a position). AMD 559.82 -> 630.59 = +12.64% vs SPY 761.69 -> 771.35 = +1.27%; SMH +5.86%, SOXX +7.43%. Fills UNKNOWN - book shows no card position (AMD 20 @ 583.33 Roth is the pre-existing ai-semi lot, not the card). Held Week-2 AAPL 60 @ 333.50 Roth: OPEN, 341.07 close (+2.27%), week high 345.34 (T1 344.57 printed 9/22, not held), low 334.30 above the 335 ceiling on a close basis and the 328 invalidation; hard 319 GTC. Thesis right (semis IN, AMD the resolved chart), execution flawed: a limit 5.2% under the close in a nine-up-day name with a rising ratio, no buy-stop variant (rejected at 1.0:1 to T1 though 1.7:1 to T2) = a card designed not to fill. B
2026-09-14 AAPL B (breakout/continuation; screen 9/16: within 1.1% of the 20d high, RS20 +9.0, RS60 +10.6, RSI 62, not extended) 333.50 OPEN — interim. Per the bars (stockanalysis; Yahoo 429 all run) the 333.50 limit would have filled Fri 9/18 (O 337.91 H 338.49 L 332.53 C 336.13, 85.9M sh — quad witching, the month's biggest volume); GO was issued 08:52 ET so the order was placeable. Close 336.13 = +0.79% vs entry, above the 335 ceiling for a second day; invalidation 328 / hard stop 319 never threatened (week low 328.35 on 9/15, before the card); T1 344.57 / T2 358 not printed (week high 338.49). AAPL week +1.16% (332.27 → 336.13) vs SPY −0.34% (764.29 → 761.69); QQQ +0.90%, XLK +1.03%. Fills UNKNOWN — book file still as_of 9/8, no AAPL. Falsifier watch: Friday was red on the month's biggest volume but closed in the top 60% of its range above 335 — not a reversal, but the first warning bar. Next: Sun 9/20 chart review · Wed 9/23 good-through · Fri 9/25 ledger.
2026-09-08 CRWD A — pullback in uptrend 208.00 Per the bars: CRWD week 213.10 -> 206.74 (-2.98%) vs SPY -0.81%; the 208 limit would have filled 9/9 (low 207.00); no close under the 200 invalidation (closes 210.02 / 207.80 / 208.86 / 206.74), the 196 hard stop never touched (week low 204.27), T1 229 / T2 233.90 / breakeven 218.07 never printed (week high 214.68). Actual: BUY 50 @ 207.69 Roth 9/8 (confirmed on the card), SOLD 50 Fri 9/11 on the chart read — exit price UNKNOWN, confirm (approx 205-206 = roughly -$85 to -$135). Book endpoint (as_of 9/8) does not show CRWD. C
