Semis are the wire's IN theme for a fourth week and NVDA is the leader every desk named Friday (record high, Morgan Stanley top pick, two final trades); it cleared a four-test 232-233 ceiling by gap but closed under 234.76, so buy the retest of that cleared ceiling, not the gap.
PATTERN: gap-and-fade at an all-time high on an analyst upgrade (Morgan Stanley top pick) = failed breakout / distribution into strength until proven otherwise. (a) Highs since the last peak: the peak IS Friday (237.88). Before it the highs stepped 233.21 -> 232.82 -> 232.37 -> 232.29 (9/28-10/1) on a flat 227.03-228.17 base - a four-day micro-coil that resolved UP by Friday's gap; zero step-down highs since. (b) NVDA/SPY ratio, last 20 sessions: RISING (about 0.285 -> 0.305, highest since May). (c) Ceiling tests, last 10 sessions on the hourly: 232.3-233.2 hit 9/28, 9/29, 9/30, 10/1 (four) then cleared Friday; the new ceiling 237.88 hit once and faded under VWAP all day. What the bear read gets right: candle bodies were red on 4 of the last 5 sessions on above-average volume (142M, 102M, 122M, 135M vs one green 99M; 20d avg 110M) - every gap-up open was sold; Friday closed 233.95, UNDER the 234.76 pivot and under the desk's own 235 line. RULING: BULL READ SURVIVES because Friday is the first daily close above both the 230.47 pivot and the four-test 232.3-233.2 ceiling, a higher high (237.88 > 234.76) after higher lows (208.93, 221.09), with the ratio rising. The bear read wins the entry: no chase - buy only the retest of the cleared ceiling, half size, out on a close back under the shelf.
NVDA_D + NVDA_60, bar date 2026-10-02. 1 STRUCTURE: labeled swing highs 227.92 / 230.47 / 234.76 rising, swing lows 190.01 / 207.25 / 208.93 rising; Friday 237.88 is a higher high over 234.76 and a new all-time high. 2 LEVELS: entry 231.90 = just under the 10/1 high 232.29 (bottom edge of Friday's gap) inside the 227.03-233.21 four-day shelf that preceded the impulse; invalidation close < 226.90 = under the 9/29 low 227.03 and the 9/25 high 226.94 (floor of the 9/28 gap); hard stop 222.90 = under the 9/25 low 223.13; T1 246.50 = half the 27.5-pt triangle height over the 234.76 pivot (248.5) trimmed to fit the 6.4% implied move; T2 262.25 = 234.76 + the full 207.25->234.76 height. No SMA used. 3 VOLUME since the 9/28 gap: red-bodied 142M / 102M / 122M / 135M vs green 99M - sellers into every gap although closes rose 4 of 5 days; this is the flag. 4 GAPS: 232.29-233.60 (0.6%) from Friday directly under price; 226.94-228.04 (0.5%) under the shelf; only shaded gap is April's at ~179, far away. 5 REJECTIONS: 232.3-233.2 four times 9/28-10/1 then cleared; 237.88 once. 6 RELATIVE STRENGTH: ratio rising, highest since May; Friday NVDA +1.34% vs SPY +0.74%. 7 LABEL: screen says B (breakout/continuation); picture says breakout not yet confirmed on a close - relabeled 'B, breakout retest'. 8 BEAR READ: see bear_case.
Independent read of NVDA_D/_60 (server PNG + TradingView daily/30m) confirms the structure: higher high (237.88 ATH) over 234.76 after higher lows (190.01 to 207.25 to 208.93), RS/SPY ratio rising to a multi-month high. But Friday's breakout gapped to 237.88 and sold hard all session, closing 233.95 to 234.00 -- barely above, and briefly back inside, the 232.3-233.2 four-day coil ceiling (Sep28-Oct1) it was supposed to be clearing, giving back nearly the entire gap on one of the heavier volume bars on the chart. Bull structure survives but the breakout itself is unconfirmed on a closing basis -- this argues even more strongly than the card's own bear_case for no chase, specifically for entering inside the real demand shelf (227.03-228.17, where an unfilled gap and the 227.92 confirmed swing high both sit) rather than at 231.90, the shelf's upper lip barely under Friday's close. Theme comparison does not beat NVDA: SMH is 8% over its 20-day, inside June 619-650 supply, and also gapped-and-faded Friday with no fresh entry until its own gap fills; META and ANET are both genuine coils (6 and 4+ step-down highs onto flat bases) where house rules bar a resting limit, so their reclaim/breakout-only conditions already on the card are correct and NVDA stays the best IN-theme chart available. Event gate verified clean: FOMC minutes (Wed 10/7) and TSMC Sept sales (Thu 10/8) fall inside the window but are not the FOMC decision or NVDA's own earnings (confirmed Nov 17 per Wall Street Horizon), so only the half-size/widened-stop rule applies, as the card already states. The hard problem: at 231.90, R:R to T1 vs. the 222.90 hard stop is 1.6:1 -- a mechanical violation of the house rule that this is never supposed to be confirmed as written. Moving the limit to 228.00 (same hard stop, same invalidation, same 90 shares) fixes it to 3.6:1 and buys the real demand zone instead of its edge, so the card stands with that one change.
HOLD OFF — do not place; if the NVDA 90 sh limit 228.00 (Roth) from Monday's GO is still resting, a hold-off means it should not be working today — the card's falsifier fired: SMH closed 607.27 Thursday, under the 620.91 line (pre-market 616.00, still under it). Last day of the window: unfilled = cancelled at the close, NO-TRADE WEEK. NVDA Thursday H 237.07 / L 229.85 / C 230.48 = -2.94% vs SPY -0.42%; the 228.00 limit did not trade (week low 229.85) but sits only 1.1% under Thursday's close. Pre-market 233.95 at 08:47 ET = +1.51% vs 230.48 (absent from the 08:35 >=2% gap file), above the 226.90 invalidation. Levels: invalidation close < 226.90 / hard 222.90 / T1 246.50 / T2 262.25. No fill known. Tape 08:47 ET: SPY 776.25 (+0.30% vs 773.93), QQQ 752.47 (+0.65%), VIX 15.16; GEX STRONG_SHORT_GAMMA -2.3B (10/8), P/C 1.62, spot at zero gamma 774.06, put wall 767 / call wall 785. CNBC lead: 'Stock futures rise as tech shares rebound following sell-off'. The tape feed's NVDA -1.48% / SMH -1.44% are measured against Wednesday's closes (237.47 / 625.03) — stale reference. ALT ENTRY: Thursday closed 230.48 < 237.88 — breakout condition not met, no stop-limit. If Tuesday's stop-limit (85 sh, ~240.57) filled — UNKNOWN — Thursday's 229.85 low traded through its 232.20 hard stop. SMH (Week 4, fill unconfirmed): if held, HOLD — 607.27 = +1.6% from 597.50; breakeven stop 597.50 untouched (Thursday low 600.32); highs since the 10/6 peak step down 625.89 -> 623.13, first test of the 600-602 zone. AAPL 60 @ 333.50 still in the 9/19 book file (10/2 verdict was EXIT AT THE OPEN, exit unconfirmed): 332.74 pre-market, -2.25% vs 340.42 (in the gap file, reason not verified), above 328.
Chart ruling
bear read wins the entry — DISAGREES with the card's bear_case and the Sunday review (both 'bull read survives'); the disagreement is itself a hold-off. NVDA_D (bar 10/8, on-demand render): labeled swing highs 227.92 / 230.47 / 234.76, lows 190.01 / 207.25 / 208.93; highs since the 243.37 peak 239.08 -> 237.07 (two step-downs, not yet a coil); Thursday a full red bar 237 -> 230.48 closing at the low on ~120M, the largest volume of the leg's last four sessions (Wed ~80M) — it closed back under Friday's 232.29-233.60 gap and the 232.3-233.2 ceiling the 10/2 breakout cleared, i.e. the breakout failed on a close and price is back inside the 227.03-233.21 shelf; SMA20 226.18. NVDA/SPY ratio rose ~0.285 -> ~0.305 over 20 sessions, down three sessions running to ~0.298. NVDA_60: Thursday opened ~237 under the 239.08 PDH, lost the 236.38 PDL, one 20M red hourly bar 235.5 -> 230.3, then 230-231.5 under VWAP (~233) to the close, last 230.57. Ceiling tests in 10 sessions: 243.37 once rejected, 239.08 Wed failed, 237.07 Thu failed. What still stands for the bull: higher lows 208.93 / 221.09 intact, close above 226.90 and the SMA20. RS: NVDA -2.94% Thu vs SPY -0.42% (laggard three days running). SMH_D: close 607.27 under 620.91 on the largest volume in weeks (~11M), ratio turning down. SPY_D: swing highs 779.37 / 775.30 / 775.14, lows 759.48 / 749.60 / 758.79; close 773.93 back under the 775 band, above SMA20 767.26.
GO - NVDA 90 sh limit 228.00 Roth, good through Fri 10/9 close; pre-market 235.43 (+0.63%), chart ruling bull read survives. Weekend wire (FX Evolution, 'We've Seen This Before'): bonds/MOVE/high-yield stress and an 18-month-high dollar, tech and energy the only strong sectors, semis 'had a pretty good week'; on NVDA: 'An all-time high was reached and was sold off ... for now it's a series of higher highs and higher lows' - same picture as the card, not a hold-off. Tape 08:47 ET: SPY 768.82 (-0.11%), VIX 16.12, GEX STRONG_SHORT_GAMMA -0.8B (10/2 reading). NO-TRADE on the primary per the bars: the NVDA 228.00 limit never traded (week low 229.11 Fri; Thu low 229.85); no close under 226.90; T1/T2 not printed (week high 243.37 Tue). NVDA 233.95 -> 229.28 = -2.00% vs SPY +1.16%, SMH -4.32%. The breakout confirmed Mon (close 238.90 on 127.2M) then failed Thu (close 230.48 on 118.7M, back under the 232.3-233.2 ceiling). ALT ENTRY per the bars: Monday's close met the breakout condition (>237.88 on >110M); a Tue stop-limit (stop ~239.38 / limit ~240.57) would have filled (Tue range 238.93-243.37) and Thursday's 229.85 low traded through its 232.20 hard stop = about -$711 on 85 sh, the planned loss. Fills UNKNOWN - book file (as_of 9/19) shows no NVDA.
NVDA_D / NVDA_60 viewed but both are the 08:48 ET cached render (bar 10/8); Friday's bar is from the Nasdaq quote, not the image. NVDA_D labeled swing highs 227.92 / 230.47 / 234.76, lows 190.01 / 207.25 / 208.93; the week made a higher high (240.10 Mon, 243.37 Tue) then three step-down highs 239.08 -> 237.07 -> 233.89, Thursday a full red bar closing at its low back inside the 227.03-233.21 shelf, Friday lower again (229.11 low, 229.28 close); shelf floor 227.03 and SMA20 226.18 not broken; NVDA/SPY ratio down four sessions from ~0.305. Volume: the one clean up day was the largest (Mon 127.2M); the down days ran 101.7M / 81.8M / 118.7M / 84.4M. NVDA_60: Tue gap to 243.37 sold from the first bar, Thu one 20M red hourly bar 235.5 -> 230.3 then flat under VWAP. Label 'B - breakout retest' matched the picture at entry (unconfirmed gap-and-fade breakout, retest-only); now the picture is a failed breakout with a coil forming (three step-down highs under 243.37) - no longer B. SMH_D (bar 10/9): swing highs 600.37 / 573.21 / 580.57, lows 540.75 / 540.07 / 537.73; reversed from ~639.5 Tue to 603.33, Thursday's red bar the largest volume of the leg (~11M). SPY_D: swing highs 779.37 / 775.30 / 775.14, lows 759.48 / 749.60 / 758.79; closed 778.57 above the 775 band.

Implied move 6.4% to 10/30 is smaller than entry-to-248.5, so T1 was cut to 246.50; breadth at 40.4% above the 50d sits on the low-end line and dealers are short gamma, so with the 1.6:1 flag the size is half (7.5% NAV) and the entry is a pullback limit.

Per the bars the flagged 50-sh alternate (stop 281.68 / limit 283.09) likely filled Tue near 283.09 after opening 283.29; worth about +0.8% at Friday's 285.42. Jason's fills UNKNOWN. | B |
| 2026-09-28 | SMH | B — breakout/continuation (ETF row carries no bucket; relabeled from the chart: last week's 573–600 coil resolved up 9/21 and held four sessions) | 597.50 | OPEN — interim, per the bars: the 597.50 limit traded Mon 9/28 (low 591.92, the GO day); no close under 592, hard 586.50 untouched; T1 626 printed Fri 10/2 (gap to 628.55–636.25, close 630.60 = +5.54% from entry, +5% breakeven trigger 627.38 hit); T2 648 not printed. AMD 559.82 -> 630.59 = +12.64% vs SPY 761.69 -> 771.35 = +1.27%; SMH +5.86%, SOXX +7.43%. Fills UNKNOWN - book shows no card position (AMD 20 @ 583.33 Roth is the pre-existing ai-semi lot, not the card). Held Week-2 AAPL 60 @ 333.50 Roth: OPEN, 341.07 close (+2.27%), week high 345.34 (T1 344.57 printed 9/22, not held), low 334.30 above the 335 ceiling on a close basis and the 328 invalidation; hard 319 GTC. Thesis right (semis IN, AMD the resolved chart), execution flawed: a limit 5.2% under the close in a nine-up-day name with a rising ratio, no buy-stop variant (rejected at 1.0:1 to T1 though 1.7:1 to T2) = a card designed not to fill. | B | |

Close 336.13 = +0.79% vs entry, above the 335 ceiling for a second day; invalidation 328 / hard stop 319 never threatened (week low 328.35 on 9/15, before the card); T1 344.57 / T2 358 not printed (week high 338.49). AAPL week +1.16% (332.27 → 336.13) vs SPY −0.34% (764.29 → 761.69); QQQ +0.90%, XLK +1.03%. Fills UNKNOWN — book file still as_of 9/8, no AAPL.
